concerts & festivals
Balkan American Community Center has hosted a good amount of concerts and festivals, ranging from ethnic concerts and festivals to Children’s International Festival.
The Balkan festival is an initiative of the Balkan American Community Center to promote the Balkan music, folklore and traditional food and provide a positive and inclusive space for sharing culture with the wider community. These are festivals organized twice a year as Balkan Spring and Fall Fest. During the festival, the participants have an opportunity to enjoy traditional food in presence of outstanding folkloric performances of the BACC Weekend school students. Live music, animal petting zoo, face painting, sportive tournaments and more, add colors to this activity. These events are held at the BACC location in Troy, Michigan.
For the first time in the history of International Music Nights, Nassau County, along with FEBA hosted a “Balkan American Night” at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater in Eisenhower Park, Nassau County Parks. Performances included: AMANET BAND, which played Albanian, Bosnian, and Macedonian Music; SEDEF FOLK GROUP, which performed traditional Bosnian dances as well as a surprise traditional Turkish dance; and MERGIMI FOLK GROUP of the Albanian Associated Fund, who did Albanian Folk Dances.
This was a night where different Balkan cultures came together and shared the unique beauty and the commonalities between them. It was an unforgettable event for everyone, especially the children, for whom various entertaining activities were carefully prepared, while their parents mingled, enjoyed music and danced.
